Honeybees are social insects that live together in a colony and work together for the good of all. A normal colony contains one queen and several thousand female workers. Honeybees collect nectar from flowers and transform it into honey. Honey stores well and is used as a food source during winter. Honeybees are valued for their production of honey and beeswax. While gathering nectar, bees are responsible for the pollination of many plants. Someone who manages honeybees in man-made colonies is called a beekeeper.
