Cooking With Honey – Chicken Stir Fry
Honey uses in recipes is a time honored tradition. It has earned a place in every homestead kitchen. Honey can be included in every part of the meal from appetizers to dessert. Try this Honey Chicken Stir Fry Recipe – it is sure to please your family.
Honey is a natural sweetener made by bees. This “near perfect” food not only provides nourishment for bees – we humans get a lot of use from it as well.
Raw honey can be used in recipes for foods that are hot or cold. It can be measured in the same way as granulated sugar.
However, because honey is sweeter than sugar – you may find yourself using less of it. Honey does have calories though – we must keep that in mind.

If you know how to properly store honey, you never have to worry about it going bad. Honey doesn’t spoil.
Honey can crystallize though – also called “turning to sugar”. That is just a natural process of this special super-saturated sugar.

Honey Chicken Stir Fry Recipe – Easy & Quick
- Salt & Pepper - Optional
- 3 teaspoons of cornstarch
- 5 Tablespoons of Honey
- 1/3 cup of Soy Sauce
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1 lb of chicken breasts - boneless-skinless - cubed
- 3 cloves of garlic - chopped
- 3 cups of broccoli florets
- 2 cups of carrot slices
- 3 Tablespoons of Vegetable Oil (total)
- Cut the chicken breasts into small pieces. Cubes or slices are fine but none should be over 1" thick.
- Cut the broccoli florets into small bite sized pieces.
- The cloves of garlic can be minced or chopped into small pieces.
- I chose to use pre-sliced carrots that are a bit thick. If you decide to peel and slice your own carrots - make thin slices.
- Heat 1 1/2 Tablespoons of oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the carrots and broccoli, stirring occasionally - cook 8 minutes or until tender.
- Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
- After cleaning the skillet, add the remaining oil and turn the heat up to Med-High.
- Add chicken pieces to the skillet and dust with salt and pepper. Cook the chicken - turning to cook each side - until it is cooked with no pink in the middle. This took about 6 minutes for me.
- Add your chopped garlic to the chicken and stir well. Cook for another minute.
- Add your vegetables back to the skillet and stir.
- In another small bowl, combine the water (hot water is best), soy sauce and honey.
- Mix your cornstarch with just a bit of cold water and add it to the sauce mix.
- Pour your sauce mix over the chicken and vegetables and cook for an additional minute or 2 until the sauce begins to thicken.
- Serve over rice or with another side item.
I used pre-slice scalloped carrots. This will result in them being crunchy as they cook slower than the broccoli. If you want soft carrots, either cook them alone for 3 minutes before adding broccoli or slice your own carrots very thin.
This is not a sweet sauce. If you want a sweeter recipe, use more honey and less soy sauce.
